Hello,
I use WebSphere Portal 6.0 with Tivoli Directory Server 6.0.0.9. The enable-security-ldap task completed successfully, and the Portal correctly accesses the LDAP user directory.
My problem concerns the access rights for WCM. At the moment, only the Portal's Administrative User can view and modify the Rendering Portlets. When I try viewing a Rendering Portlet from the WCMAdmin's account or a privileged user's, I always get a "IWKMU1026X: File not found" error for content items and "This portlet is unavailable" for the menu components. Also, no user except the Administrator can access the Authoring Portlet: "You are not authorized to perform..."
In the WCM, I granted read access to [all authenticated users], setting this property for all elements: sites, site areas, content items, the workflow, ... Of course these are to be changed in the future, but first I'd like to get them to work.
I also tried configuring the user roles in the WAS Admin Console: Enterprise Applications > wmmApp > Map security roles to users/groups. But I must confess that I don't really get the meaning of these settings here... the online docs aren't very clear about that. Maybe I have to change the settings for the wcm application as well?
It's more than obvious to me that I keep on missing a crucial configuration setting, but until now I haven't been able to figure out where it's hiding.
Would anybody please be so kind to
1) explain me what exactly the user role mappings in the WAS Console are and how they work;
2) tell me what I can do to solve my problem?
Thank you,
adapter

Have you granted any user access to the libraries?

Hello Ben,
I thought I had granted sufficient access rights for the Web Content library, but your advice made me review the settings, and you were right! Now the users are able to view the rendering portlets. Thank you!
Would you mind telling me as well what the user role mappings in the WAS Console are for, or providing me with a useful link?
Since this morning I have another problem, which apparently happens only in Firefox (my version is 2.0). When I try saving an open WCM element I get back to the initial view of the Authoring Portlet, without the open elements being neither saved nor unlocked. I already checked the Firefox's configuration about javascript, cookies and the cache, though I hadn't changed anything for a while. Until now I did not notice the same problem in IE.
Thanks again,

Hello again,
I solved the troubles with Firefox by simply restarting the browser a couple of times. Probably there was a bad execution of the Javascripts.
Nevertheless I am facing a strange situation: sometimes the non-admin users are able to view the rendering portlets, and after some time the same users can't, without any modification of any configuration setting. Apparently by restarting the portal servers the situation temporarily turns normal, but then, after some time, the rendering portlet pulls out its favourite "File not found"-error again.
This problem does not happen with the admin users, and appears both in IE and Firefox.
Any idea?
Thanks,
adapter.

Are you on 6.0.0.0 or 6.0.0.1? Been using 6.0.0.0 and it's proving to be very buggy (as can be expected for a triple 0 release of any software) - installing fix pack this morning.

Finding similar results here, upgrade to 6001 fixed few WCM 6 issues, but still finding WCM 6001 buggy even after applying Cumulative Fix 1 for 6001 ![]()

Thanks for the advice... I've downloaded the fixpack and will install it in a few days, but first I'm going to do a backup. BTW, can you confirm that the 6.0.0.1 will work for the Express Version as well? I think so, but I prefer to ask.
I find it great that every day I get a step further, thanks to all you kind guys in this forum here. So please lend me a hand one more time: why can't I view JSP components in the rendering portlets? If I enter the exact URL to the WCM Content Item which contains the JSP Component, the page is built correctly, but in the rendering portlet i get a "Failed to find resource"-error. My jsp-files are in the ...\wcm.ear\ilwwcm.war directory as requested.
Working with WebSphere is a continuous challenge...

Found out why: to render a JSP page on a local rendering portlet, you need to store a copy of the JSP file under <portal_server_root>/installedApps/WCM_Local_ng_Portlet-name.ear/name.war.
To view the Content Item by the exact URL you will need to have those files in the original folder i mentioned in the previous post.
